Overnight Camp

The overnight program was structured to offer this great instructional baseball experience to players who live beyond driving distance from the camp but also to allow some of our day campers to benefit from the experience of learning alongside players from other areas. The overnight program was approved for operation in 2006 and, after running the day camp sessions for over twenty years, the expanded operation has been a real success. Our overnight objectives are similar to those for the day camp with the advantage of more time, good food and proper rest.

Accommodations

We decided on simple wooden cabins that could house four to six campers. We wanted a simple, outdoor feeling and we wanted the kids to be immersed in the experience – they eat and sleep in sight of the baseball field.

Due to the activity level each day, all campers need to be in their cabin by 9:00 pm with lights out at 10:00 pm. Campers are monitored by security throughout the night.  Our cabins and shower units were brand new in 2006.

The overnight camper will have a diverse and broadened baseball experience. Overnight campers will receive our two week day camp designed into the one week overnight period.  With extra practice, test preparation and testing each night.

The overnight camp also has a recreational program that has included movies, bowling and going to baseball games.

Food

When we designed the overnight program, we placed an emphasis on making sure that the food was going to be good.  We felt that the kids would feel more at home if they had plenty of familiar food to eat.  We also try to have several selections available.  As an example, last year’s menu for breakfast included fruit, cereal, pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, milk, and several juices daily.  For lunch, we offered choices including pizza, hot dogs, burgers or a tuna sub with chips and drinks.  Dinners have included spaghetti and meatballs with salad, dinner rolls and drinks or chicken (fried or barbequed), vegetables, salad, dinner rolls and drinks. Another favorite has been barbequed ribs or steak with vegetables, salad, dinner rolls and drinks.  We have also offered baked haddock, lasagna, sloppy joes and tacos.  Obviously, you can’t run a kid’s camp without kid’s desserts.

If your son is at our camp, we consider him our personal guest. He will be safe, happy and eat well.
